1. Confirm account authority and broker rules
- Use only MT5 accounts you own or are authorized to operate.
- Confirm that your broker and account terms permit your intended account-copying use.
- Decide which account creates the original trade and which accounts should receive instructions.
If the roles are unfamiliar, read the source and follower account guide first.
2. Test every MT5 connection
Enter the MT5 login, password, and broker-provided server name or URL exactly as supplied. TradeMirror uses ConnectX to test that exact input before the account can be saved; no broker search or separate IP field is required.
A passed test proves that the tested connection worked at that time. It does not guarantee permanent availability.
3. Review the visible copy route
- Confirm the one intended source account.
- Confirm every selected follower account.
- Remove any account that should not receive instructions.
- Check that plan capacity covers the saved configuration.
4. Calculate the follower lot size
Confirm whether the strategy uses a lot multiplier or a fixed lot size, then calculate at least one expected follower volume. The two methods are not equity-based risk sizing.
Use the worked lot-sizing examples and check each follower's instrument minimum, maximum, lot step, contract specification, and available margin.
5. Review state and data freshness
- A saved account is configured; it is not automatically live.
- Cached balance or account data is not a live MT5 connection.
- A saved copy strategy is not running until its runtime state says Running.
- If a status is unavailable, refresh it before making a decision.
6. Test the supported lifecycle conservatively
Use a demo environment or other conditions appropriate to your own risk decision. After the strategy is running, check a trade open, stop-loss change, take-profit change, and close. Verify each actual follower account directly inside MT5.
A source event or aggregate success value does not prove that every follower executed at the same price—or executed at all.
7. Know when to stop and investigate
Stop the copy strategy if the route, sizing, connection, runtime state, or actual follower account does not match your intention. Check the MT5 copy-trading troubleshooting guide before restarting an affected route.
TradeMirror provides copying infrastructure, not investment advice. Read the risk disclosure before using a live account.
