Before you start

You need:

  • Two MT5 accounts that you own or are authorized to operate.
  • The broker server, MT5 login, and password for each account.
  • A clear decision about which account is the source and which is the follower.
  • A multiplier or fixed-lot value that you have reviewed.

TradeMirror does not provide trades or signals. The original trade must occur on your chosen source account.

Configuration diagram: source account → sizing rule → selected follower accounts. It does not represent an execution receipt.

1. Connect and test the source account

Create your TradeMirror account, verify your email, and open the Connections page. Add the first MT5 account using its login, password, and broker-provided MT5 server name or URL. ConnectX tests that exact input; no broker search or separate IP field is required.

A successful connection test confirms that TradeMirror could establish the tested connection at that time. It is not a promise that the connection will remain available indefinitely.

2. Connect and test the follower account

Repeat the connection flow for the account that should receive copy instructions. Check the login and server value carefully; an incorrect server name, URL, or credential can prevent connection.

3. Create the copy strategy

Open Copy strategies and create a strategy. Select the first account as the source, then select the second account as a follower. The source-to-follower mapping is the copy route.

Keep the roles distinct.

The source is where the original trade occurs. A follower receives the instruction. These terms describe account roles, not people following a public trader.

Read the source and follower account guide if you need to review the role and state terminology.

4. Choose multiplier or fixed-lot sizing

A lot multiplier scales the source volume. A fixed lot uses the same configured follower volume for each copied open, regardless of the source volume. TradeMirror applies one method to the strategy.

Use the worked sizing guide to check the arithmetic and limitations before saving the strategy.

5. Review the route before activation

Confirm all four configuration facts:

  1. The intended source account is selected.
  2. The intended follower account is selected.
  3. The sizing method and value are correct.
  4. The strategy state matches your intention.

Saving a configuration and activating it are separate ideas. Use the explicit start and stop controls rather than assuming a saved strategy is running.

6. Test the complete lifecycle conservatively

Before relying on a live workflow, use a demo environment or other conditions appropriate to your own risk decisions. Check an open, stop-loss change, take-profit change, and close. Confirm the actual follower account in MT5 rather than treating an aggregate dashboard count as a follower execution receipt.

This is an operational testing checklist, not investment advice or a recommendation to place a trade.

7. Understand normal execution differences

The follower may receive a different price, take longer to execute, or fail to execute. Broker conditions, spreads, liquidity, connectivity, account settings, available margin, symbol rules, and timing all matter.

Read the full risk disclosure before using TradeMirror with capital you cannot afford to lose.

8. Stop the route when the configuration is not right

Stop the copy strategy if the source, follower, sizing, connection, or available runtime state does not match your intention. Stopping a strategy does not replace checking the source and follower accounts directly in MT5.

If the route does not behave as expected, use the state-based troubleshooting guide before restarting it.

Keep the pre-flight checklist with the route

Before each first activation or material configuration change, review the MT5 copy-strategy pre-flight checklist for connections, roles, sizing, runtime state, and follower evidence.
